About Stack Value
Stack Value tells you what your silver and gold coins and bullion are worth for their metal, at today's spot price. It's built in Saint John, New Brunswick, so it shows Canadian dollars first and covers the Canadian coins most calculators skip, from 80% silver quarters to Maple Leafs. One tap switches to US dollars, pounds, Australian dollars or about thirty other currencies.
Where the numbers come from
- Metal content comes from official mint specifications wherever possible (Royal Canadian Mint, US Mint, the Royal Mint and others), checked against standard references. Each coin page lists its sources.
- Spot prices refresh every minute from a live precious-metals feed.
- Exchange rates come from the Bank of Canada's daily rates, with other currencies filled in from central-bank data.
What melt value means
Melt value is the worth of the pure metal inside a coin. It's a useful floor, not a selling price: dealers usually pay a little less than melt for common coins, bullion coins sell for a premium, and rare dates can be worth far more to collectors. See ourdisclaimer.
